The International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) is a technical institute of ASME. IGTI sponsors programs, activities and services that encourage and support an international understanding and extension of the design, manufacture, operation and application of all types of combustion turbine and aeroengine machinery.
A ten-member Board of Directors, working within general ASME policies and in close cooperation with IGTI staff, and a host of volunteer technical committee chairs, program chairs, and other activity leaders and participants, govern the policies and activities of IGTI. IGTI’s base of operations is in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The staff in Atlanta is under the direction of IGTI’s Managing Director.
The Institute has no formal individual or corporate members. Individuals interested in participating in IGTI should become members of ASME. Upon joining ASME, new members are asked to select specific areas of interest in priority sequence. ASME members who select gas turbines (technical interest #22) as their primary interest area take priority in receiving information about IGTI activities.
IGTI is perhaps best known for producing ASME TURBO EXPO, the definitive technical conference and exposition for the gas turbine community worldwide. IGTI’s influence and leadership are derived from individual engineers serving as volunteers within a structure of 17 Technical Committees:
