Influence of viscosity anisotropy on turbulence large scale statistics![]() Presentation: Session: Multiphase and non-Newtonian flows 4 Room: Room D Session start: 10:30 Fri 28 Aug 2015 Tim Grünberg gruenberg@ifd.mavt.ethz.ch Affifliation: Institute of Fluid Dynamics, ETH Zurich, Switzerland Thomas Rösgen roesgen@ifd.mavt.ethz.ch Affifliation: Institute of Fluid Dynamics, ETH Zurich, Switzerland Topics: - Turbulence in multiphase and non-Newtonian flows, - Lagrangian aspects of turbulence Abstract: We report experiments on a turbulent flow of a fluid with anisotropic viscosity. The fluid is an aqueous suspension of paramagnetic nanoparticles which can be aligned by an external magnetic field. We explore the flow at various Reynolds numbers and magnetic field strengths and see pronounced changes in turbulence statistics even at the largest scales. |
