The files in this directory tree contain statistical data extracted from
direct numerical simulations of fully developed ZPG Boundary Layer
flow (Re_theta=2780-6650)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The algorithm used is presented in:

- M. P. Simens, J. Jimenez, S. Hoyas, Y. Mizuno
"A high-resolution code for turbulent boundary layers"
  Journal of Computational Physics
  Volume 228, Issue 11, 20 June 2009, Pages 4218-4231

- G. Borrell, J.A. Sillero, J. Jimenez
"A code for direct numerical simulation of turbulent boundary layers
at high Reynolds numbers in BG/P supercomputers"
  Computers & Fluids, Volume 80, 10 July 2013, Pages 37-43

The data is discussed in:

- J.A. Sillero, J. Jimenez, R.D. Moser
"One-point statistics for turbulent wall-bounded flows at Reynolds
  numbers up to \delta^+\approx2000"
  Phys. Fluids 25, 105102

There are six folders at six different Reynolds numbers: nominal
Reynolds numbers based on \theta (Momentum thickness) and U_inf (U at the
infinity), ranging from 4000 to 6500 with increments of 500.
These files contains the averaged energy balances of the boundary layer,
averaged again in x in small intervals centered at each of the different Reynolds numbers.

Each directory contains 4 files named Re_theta_*.bal.<extension>, where
the extension indicates the contents of the file. The extensions are:

bal.uu -- balance of the streamwise velocity variance
bal.vv -- balance of the wall-normal velocity variance
bal.ww -- balance of the spanwise velocity variance
bal.uv -- balance of the Reynolds shear stress

Before final publication of a paper citing these data, please check this
site for an up-to-date reference.

The files are written in plane ASCII.
The listed matlab structure contains the same data that the above files.

Please report any problems with the data to J.A. Sillero,
